Luanda - Angola's senior men's basketball team lost 73-82 to defending champions Tunisia in Hammamet Sunday, ending participation in the first qualifying window for Afrobasket` 2025, which has yet to be announced the date and venue.

In the first round of the competition, Angola beat Guinea 76-70 and then beat Kenya 88-58.

In this first window, the national team were led by coach Aníbal Moreira, assisted by Miguel Lutonda, due to the absence of the head coach the Spanish Pep Clarós for personal reasons.

Twenty nations, subdivided into five groups of four teams each, will compete for the 16 places at Afrobasket 2025. The first-placed teams in each group and the best third-placed team out of the five will qualify.

The players Childe Dundão, Gerson Gonçalves "Lukeny", Elcane Paca, Aguinaldo Neto, Aboubakar Gakou, Teotónio Dó, Wilson Ambrósio, Kenneth Manuel, Macachi Brás, Cléusio Castro, Jilson Bango, João Fernandes e Eduardo Francisco, made up the nationnal team.

Angola have the most continental championship titles, with 11 in total and the last one won in 2013, coached by Angolan Paulo Macedo.

On four occasions they came second obtaining silver medal) and twice third (bronze).
