AfroCups: 1º de Agosto play qualifier in Tanzania

  • Jogadores do 1.º de Agosto testam negativo à Covid-19
Luanda – The team of 1º de Agosto will play the two matches of the last qualifier for the access to the group phases of the Confederation Cup in Tanzania facing the local club Namungo FC as the decision of the African Football Confederation (CAF).

The first challenge that was to be held last Sunday in Luanda did not happen because some players of the Tanzania team had tested positive to covid-19.

Thus, CAF recognizing that none of the actors is entirely responsible for the impact, decided to give the Angolan team the option of playing both hands in the opponent´s field.

The condition placed is that both matches be disputed with a break of at least less 72 hours until 26 February according to the 1º de Agosto website.

The first encounter between both teams is already set for next Sunday with the Angolan representative to be considered as the host in terms of organization and financial responsibilities.

Meanwhile, to ensure good organization of the Group Stage Draw, scheduled for 22 of this month, the winners of the eliminatory match will be known only on 26 February and will be considered not yet classified during the act.
