Luanda - With Tiago Azulão's sole goal, Petro de Luanda beat Akonangui of Equatorial Guinea 1-0 last Sunday in the first round of access to the group stage of the African Champion league Clubs in football.

Played at the Ebebiyin Stadium, the Brazilian only needed 36 minutes to guarantee the Angolan team's victory away from home.

The Goalkeeper Elber also saved a penalty in the 53rd minute.

At the service of Petro de Luanda, Tiago Azulão became the best scorer in the 2017 first division National Football Championship (16 goals) and in 2018 (20).

According to the main coach, Toni Cosano, the initial objective of the Angolan representative is to reach the group stage.

The second leg challenge will take place within days, at the 11 de Novembro stadium, in Luanda.

Petro's best result in this continental competition was in the 2001 semi-finals, knocked out by South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns, on penalties, 3-5.

Meanwhile, 1º de Agosto, also national representatives to the event, are exempt from the preliminary stage and should only play as from December.
