Angola basketball team beat Slovakia

Luanda - Angola senior men's basketball team defeated Slovakia Thursday by 86-59 at the Matosinhos International Tournament taking place in Portugal.

Angolan point guard Leandro Conceição was the top scorer of the match with 13 points, followed by the centre forward Teotónio Dó (12pts), while the Slovenian V. Brodziansky scored 11points.

The competition running until July 24, aims to prepare the African country national team ahead of their participation in the 2021 Afrobasket, next August, in Rwanda, where Angola intend to rescue the title lost in 2015.

The national team have been playing pre-competitive matches for two weeks in Portugal with the aim to get more competitiveness at the African championship.

Angola national basketball team comprise the following players:

Hermenegildo Santos, Edson Ndoniema, Malick Cissé, Pedro Bastos, Carlos Morais, Leonel Paulo, Childe Dundão, Selton Miguel, Leandro Conceição, Jilson Bango, Teotónio Dó, Aboubakar Gakou, Eduardo Mingas and Yanick Moreira are working.

The Afrobasket takes place from August 24 to September 5, in Kigali, Rwanda.

Angola integrate group A along with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Cape Verde and Rwanda.
