Angola begin competing in the Doha World Cup in swimming

Luanda – The National Swimming Team will begins, this Saturday morning, the participation in the World Championship, which takes place in the Qatari city of Doha, with Rafaela Santo, in the 10km race, in open waters.

The current national reference in the specialty, in which she was runner-up in the 2022 African Championship in zone IV, in Zambia, competes with 71 opponents of various nationalities. Regarding Rafaela, who has been improving in the United States in recent months, she will compete again in the 5km race, on the seventh day of this month (7:30 am), where she will face 62 opponents.

In this 5km specialty, the national team, in addition to Rafaela, will also evolve with the promising athlete Yano Elias (7h30), who will have 74 opponents. Still in the event, the Angolan squad are also involved in pure swimming, which includes swimmers Henrique Mascarenhas, who will compete in the 200 and 100m freestyle, on the 12th and 14th of this month.

In addition to Lia Lima, in the 100m and 200m butterfly, on the 11th and 14th of this month it will be Nhara Fernandes, who will have a double shift, on the 17th, swimming the 50m freestyle and breaststroke, respectively.

The country was present in the last World Cup, held in the Japanese city of Fukuoka, in 2023.
