Luanda - Angola start on Saturday playing the Youth Chess World Championship organized by Georgia, in the under-10, 12, 14, 16 and 17 categories.

The championship will be played online, according to the guidance of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), due to the Covid -19 pandemic.

According to the regulations, the Africa qualifying matches take place from November 28 to 30, qualifying for the other phase the first three teams of each category.

The National team has as highlight the chess player, candidate for master (CM), Renelsa Antonio, from Cunene province.

The player deserved again the confidence of the national technical team, after her debut in the event, in 2018, where she competed in the category of Under-14. Renelsa has an Elo of 1292 (playing strength).

She is the Under - 12, 14 and 16 categories national champion, besides being the African champion in the 4.5 zone.

In women category, Angola also participates with Jemima Paulo (Elo,1599 - in the Under - 14 category), Master Fide and African champion in Under - 18, Ednasia Júnior (Elo 1808) and also the African junior champion in 2019, Luzia Pires (Elo 1752).

Angola participates in this competition since 2015.
