Luanda – The Angolan power forward Cristina Márcia de Oliveira Matiquite is the first Angolan basketball player to join Clube Costa Sol of Mozambique's national women’s basketball championship, the team’s coach Leonel Manhique said Tuesday in Maputo.

Without providing details or the length of the player's contract, the coach said, the player who has already started working in the team will play in positions four and five.

“We have Cristina Matiquite, who is adapting very well to our team, where she met other well-known athletes. Thanks to her great qualities, we are sure that she will be an important asset in positions 4 and 5, to help us regain the Mozambique League title”, the coach said.

The 31-year old, 1.91 cm, 94 kg, African champion for the Angolan national team, in 2011, in Bamako, Mali, Cristina Matiquite, is a player from Clube 1º de Agosto, having already played for Interclube and Desportivo Maculusso.

This is the first time an Angolan basketball player plays in Mozambique’s  championship, while  several Mozambican players are currently playing for Angolan national  teams, such as Tamara Seda, Ingvild Mucauro, at Interclube, Odélia Mafanela and Anabela Cossa, playing for 1º de Agosto.
