Luanda – The Angolan André Matias qualified, this Wednesday, for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

The athlete from the Clube Naval de Luanda achieved the feat by ranking among the top five in the African rowing - skiff championship, which ended Wednesday in Tunisia.

Angola participated in Tunis with male and female teams and returned to the country with a ticket to the world's biggest multidisciplinary event, taking place next year in Paris, France.

Under the technical guidance of the national coach, Gilson Tenazinha, the participants were André Matias and Conceição Ngola, who competed for the place in the individual 2000 meter event, and the duo Ricardo Martins/Irineu Meno, in the 2000 meter race.

Conceição Ngola makes her debut in the continental competition, while André Matias registers his second participation.

His first participation was in Tipaza, Algeria, back in 2014 where he obtained the pass to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, after winning a silver medal, alongside Jean-Luc Rasamoelina.
