Angolan player leads African Chess championship

Luanda - The Angolan chess player Alexandre Próspero leads undefeated the African Chess Championship, in the men's Under-18 category, with 4 points, in the competition that takes place in Lusaka, Zambia.

In the double round played this Tuesday (3rd and 4th), the Angolan player beat the Master Candidate, Mohamed Hany and Sumir David, both from Egypt.

 

Alexandre Próspero overcame on his debut (Sunday) Dakshesh Dutt, from Malawi, and did the same against Zein Hesham, from Egypt.

 

On Wednesday, for the fifth round, Alexandre Próspero will play on the first board, with white pieces, against Joseph Handiya, from Zambia.

 

Also Under-18 women´s category, Reneusa Antonio is in 11th position with 1,5 points, due to one win, one draw and two defeats.

 

On the 5th round, Reneusa will face the Zambian player Misericórdia Gnoma.

 

Angola participates in the event with four categories, namely in Under-18, 16, 14 and 12, in the competition that takes place in the Swiss system.

 

In the Under-14 category, in both male and female categories, the Angolans Leopoldino Costa, Felícia Felicidade and Felícia Tatiana who is Under-12, have not yet arrived on the competition stage due to bureaucratic reasons.

 

However, at this time, they are in South Africa and will travel to Zambia only on Wednesday.
