Football: Artur de Almeida re-elected federation head

Luanda - With 70 votes in his favour, the businessman Artur de Almeida e Silva was re-elected last Saturday the chairman of the Angolan Football Association (FAF), for the 2020-2024 term.

After taking the post in 2016, replacing Pedro Neto, this time the former footballer from Vitória do Sambizanga, with 70 votes, list B, defeated the other contenders, Nando Jordão (59 votes, list - A), Tony Estraga (28 votes , list C) and José Macaia (8 votes, list - D).

 

So Artur de Almeida e Silva is chairman of FAF, a managing board made up of other 14 members, which include José Miguel, Fernando Rui Costa, Sónia Marisa Anastácio, Teofilo Moniz, Maria Ananás Pinto, Paulo Neto, José Diogo, Distino Dombele and Bernardo Suca.

 

ACTION PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS

Provide the federation with its own infrastructures, continue training human resources, invest in new information and communication technologies, and promote regional and international tournaments.

 

Streamline sports medicine, founding the national football library “Brinca n`areia” and the national museum, holding a National Congress, creating its own budget and reducing asymmetries.

 

Create a fund to support training football, focus on social security and insurance for the athlete.

 

Short-term goals: holding regional youth and junior championships, for both sexes, launching a seven-a-side football project, materializing the professional league, guaranteeing its own budget for the provincial members.

 

The programme also mentions the continuation of the project for credibility of this sort in Angola and maintenance of the marketing strategy.
