Malanje wins regional adapted athletics competition

Malanje - Malanje province won the north/east regional championship in adapted athletics after winning 17 medals, nine gold, three silver and five bronze.

In second position was Luanda with 15 medals (1 gold, 5 silver and 9 bronze), followed by Cuanza Norte with 14 (5 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze), Uíge with 12 (4 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze), Lunda Norte (1 gold and 1 silver), Zaire (4 silver and 1 bronze), while Lunda Sul won only one bronze medal.

Speaking at the closing of the event, the local governor, Norberto dos Santos, promised to pay more attention to adapted sports in the province, especially athletics.

The secretary-general of the Angolan Paralympic Committee (CPA), António da Luz, said that the championship met the expectations, despite the absence of Cabinda, Moxico and Bengo.

The North/East regional championship of adapted athletics took place Saturday and Sunday, with the participation of 97 athletes in several classes .

The top two in each category qualify for the national championship to be held in July in Luanda.
