Pretoria - Petro de Luanda lost 78-84 to Cape Town Tigers on Saturday at the Sun Beat Arena pavilion in Pretoria, South Africa,in their last match at the Kalahari conference of the African Basketball League (BAL).

Angolan Yanick Moreira was the top scorer with 20 points.

With this match Petro de Luanda completes their participation, while the competition will close Sunday with the game between Fus de Rabat against Cape Town Tigers.

It only records a game daily given the absence of Dynamo from Burundi for non-compliance with championship rules.

The Angolan champions have a record of four games played, two wins (Fus de Rabat 73-82 and CapeTownTigers 100-88) and an equal number of defeats (Fus de Rabat 89-86 and CapeTownTigers 78 -84).

In the Kalahari conference, Petro de Luanda made four appearances, Cape Town Tigers three, while Fus de Rabat and Dynamo are making their debuts.

The Angolan and Moroccan representatives are through to the final phase, scheduled for May 24 to June 1 in Rwanda, where they will be joined by other teams from the Sahara conference in Senegal and the Nile conference in Egypt.

The Egyptian team Al Haly are the reigning champions.
