Luanda – Interclube are to play the final of the senior men’s basketball championship sixteen years after their last appearance in the final in an unprecedented match against Petro de Luanda.
The title will be disputed in a play-off system, the best of five games as from Tuesday in a field to be determined by the Angolan basketball federation.
In two appearances in the final, Inter lost both to 1º de Agosto, in 2002 and 2005.
This year semi-finals is the first time Interclube overcame the experienced 1º de Agosto team, the most titled team in Angolan and African basketball with 19 domestic titles and 9 continental trophies.
Inter is chasing the first title, in their third final in history, while Petro totals 13 in as many appearances.
