Luanda - The national teams eliminated in the group stage of the African Cup of Nations (CAN'2023), which takes place in Côte d'Ivoire, will receive $500,000 dollars, in an increase allocated by the African Football Confederation (CAF).

This increase, in the order of 40% in the prizes, guaranteed by CAF to the winners of the current 34th edition of CAN'2023 brought a significant gain to the competition, even for teams with low performances.

For the teams that finished in fourth (4th) place in each of the six (6) groups, the governing body of continental football (CAF) offers a bonus of $500,000 dollars.

The two teams that came in third (3rd) place in their respective groups, but failed to qualify for the round of 16 as third best placed will receive 700,000 dollars.

For teams qualified for the round of 16, CAF guarantees a prize of $800,000 dollars, and for the quarter-finals 1,300,000 US dollars.

The winner will get $7 million dollars, runner-up $4 million, and semi-finalists $2.5 million.

The CAN, initially scheduled for 2023, was transferred by CAF to this year due to rain in Côte d’Ivoire. VAB/DOJ
