Luanda - The three candidates for the presidency of the 1º de Agosto have until Tuesday (March 12) to make their respective lists eligible for the 30 March elections for the 2024-2028 term.

According to a note from the Electoral Commission, led by Pedro Neto, with Paulo Madeira as secretary and N'gouabi Salvador as scrutineer, the contenders must submit their documentation in accordance with the requirements of the law.

Thursday (7) was the last day set for the submission of the candidates' documentation, but in view of the absence of all three proposals, the Electoral Commission opted to extend the deadline to Tuesday (12).

Candidates Egas Viegas (list A), Sá Miranda (list B) and Carlos Hendrick (list C) were informed of the missing files.

The communiqué highlights that after checking the preliminary conformity of the lists, it was found that there were nonconformities that could be overcome, however.

The decision on the complaints will be announced next Wednesday at the club's headquarters, and eligible candidates will be authorized to start campaigning from the 14th to the 28th across the country.

The elections will be held on 30 March at the “Cidade Desportiva” and the official results will be announced on the same day.

General Carlos Hendrick is running to succeed himself, after three terms of office that began in 2011.

General Gouveia Sá Miranda is running as the current board alternative candidate aiming to put the club at the place it should be in the national sports.

The jurist Egas Viegas, on the other hand, proclaims that he is rescuing the mystique of the club.

This is the first time that 1º de Agosto has held elections with three candidates at a time when there is a financial crisis never seen in the club's 46 years of existence. MC/MRA/DOJ
