Luanda – At least 22 players have been called for the Angola senior women's basketball team to represent the country in the Afrobasket2021 to be held in September, in Cameroon.

Among the selected players, the highlight goes to Sara Caetano, that plays for France’s Lyon, who stood out in the youth levels, especially in the African championship at under-16 level, in Kigali (Rwanda), where she was the top scorer with 165 points, and deserved the confidence of the senior national team coach, Walter Costa, in a list in which two other internationals are debuting.

The team start work on Friday ahead of the qualifying tournament that Angola will host from August 16 to 23.

In the 2019 Afrobasket, in Dakar (Senegal), Angola occupied the sixth position.

Angola won the African championships in 2011, in Bamako (Mali), and 2013 in Maputo (Mozambique).
