Ondjiva – The head of the youth and sports department in the southern Cunene Province, Raimundo Kunanga, on Saturday highlighted the government’s commitment to the execution of projects linked to the rehabilitation of sports infrastructures, aiming for widespread promotion of several sportive disciplines.

Speaking at the opening of the commemoration programme of the National Sports Day, to be marked on 23 January, the official explained that to tackle the deficit in sports infrastructures in the region, some projects are underway which, on conclusion, will enable to mobilise young people to get involved in sports activities.

He added that there is also a need to immediately start improving the already existing infrastructures, such as the Castilhos football field and two sports pavilions in Caxila III neighbourhood, as well as the youth house.

Raimundo Kunanga appealed for greater unity among the provincial sports associations.
