Luanda - With the aim of fostering and promoting young talent throughout the country, the Angolan Football Federation (FAF) and the mobile phone company (Africell) signed a partnership agreement Tuesday in the Province of Luanda.

The document signed by the FAF's president, Artur Almeida e Silva, and Africell's representative, Mário Nascimento, states that the programme, to be implemented shortly, will cover the creation of children's teams in the communities, serving as an incentive for the practice of mass sport.

To make it a reality, this partnership will guarantee the necessary support so that the young people involved have the conditions for positive activities.

After the meeting, Artur Almeida e Silva expressed his happiness with the partnership and considered it as an added value that reinforces and makes viable the FAF's objectives of boosting training levels.

In turn, Mário Nascimento emphasised that the agreement is based on two pillars which is recognising the commitment of the National team in international competitions, such as the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), and contributing to the training of future players.

At the time, Africell offered a prize of a Konekta 5G Router and a year's subscription to each member of the National team for their performance at the AFCON'2023, which took place this year in Côte d'Ivoire, where they reached the quarter-finals.

Although they had already qualified for the same competition, in Ghana 2008 and Angola 2010, this time the numbers were completely unprecedented.

With seven points in the initial phase (Group D), the result of two wins (Mauritania (3-2), Burkina Faso (2-0) and a draw against Algeria (1-1), Angola scored six goals, conceded just three and saw two players named "Man of the Match", namely Gelson Dala and Kialonda Gaspar.
