Luanda – The Former Angolan international football player Gilberto Amaral has been selected as member of the African Football Confederation (CAF) commission that will oversee next year's CHAN in Cameroon.

The name of the former Angola national team skipper, appears on the CAF website in a list of former stars of the continent, with emphasis on Samuel Etó, Frederick Kanoute (Mali), Diouf (Senegal) and Lua Lua (Congo), who will oversee the technical and logistical conditions of the competition to take place from January 16 to  February 7, 2021.

Gilberto was African champion with Al Ahly of Egypt, besides two participations in club world championships.

At the age of 38, he is currently the director for soccer training of Angola’s Petro de Luanda.

The creative midfielder represented Petro de Luanda, Benfica de Luanda, Belgium’s Lierse Belgium and Cyprus’ AEL Limassol team.

Angola did not qualify for CHAN2021.
