Luanda - Petro de Luanda on Monday said they played under protest against Sagrada Esperança for leaving the pitch for more than 20 minutes, in the last round of the National Football Championship (Girabola2021), which saw the latter winning the match 1-0 and becoming champions.

Speaking in a press conference on Monday, the head of the Club, Tomás Faria, said Sagrada Esperança's act of abandonment is a clear violation of the discipline regulation of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF).

"We finished the game but under protest. The only mechanism that we had on Saturday was to play but under protest, so that we don't fall into the same error as the opponentS of abandoning the field," he reiterated.

Tomas Faria said they have not closed the National Championship because there are still administrative gaps between clubs and FAF, and the last one refers to the same round, where they lost 0-1 to Sagrada Esperança.

The match between the then leaders of Girabola2021 was marked by less good acts, when following a penalty kick in favor of Petro de Luanda, Sagrada Esperança protested to the point of withdrawing from the pitch, while their fans threw chairs onto the field.

Sagrada finished the championship with 70 points, three more than Petro, in second place. 1º de Agosto finished third with 64.
