Dundo - Sagrada Esperança defeated Interclube 1-0 Wednesday in the 17th round of the national first division football championship "Girabola 2022/23" to reach 28 points and keep a tight chase to the championship leaders.
The match had a balanced first half, where both teams focused strongly on attack moves, looking for goals in the first minutes, but it was the Sagrada Esperança squad that took better advantage of the opportunities created, scoring the first goal at minute 17.
In the second half of the match, Interclube started with a more attacking style against a Sagrada Esperança team well organized defensively.
With this result, Sagrada Esperança remain in the fifth place with 28 points, the same as Interclube in fourth.
Speaking in a post match press conference Interclube head-coach Luís Gonçalves said he regretted the defeat and blame it on his players’ lack of concentration and poor finishing.
"It was a good game, both teams had plenty of opportunities, but it was Sagrada who took best advantage of them", Gonçalves said.
Sagrada Esperança head-coach Francisco Moniz, on his turn, highlighted the team's collective spirit, reiterating the ambition of the Lunda Norte Province club to finish the competition on top of the standing.
The championship is co-led by 1º de Agosto and Petro de Luanda with 35 points.
