Luanda - The National Football Team united the Angolans with their performance and the quarter-finals achieved in the AFCON 2023, which takes place in Côte d'Ivoire, the governor of the province of Luanda, Manuel Homem, stated on Sunday, in the country's capital.

Speaking to the press, at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, at the welcoming ceremony of the Palancas Negras, the governor said that the Angolan team “fought” between the main candidates for the title, such as Algeria (1-1) and raised the national flag to the highest level, with an unprecedented balance of three victories.

Due to this performance, Manuel Homem highlighted that on behalf of all Angolans, a patriotic reception was organized for the team, as a way of dignifying them for their excellent result in the competition.

In the competition, Angola defeated Mauritania (3-2), Burkina Faso (2-0), Namibia (3-0), drew with Algeria (1-1) and was eliminated by Nigeria, 0-1, in the quarters -of-finals. JAD/VAB/CF/DOJ
