Luanda - The team of Petro de Luanda started with defeat in the group stage of CAF Champions League in football, when they lost today (Saturday) to Horoya of Guinea Conakry, by 0-1, in the first round of the C series.

The goals were scored by Dramane Nikiema and Yakouba Barry, at 36 and 85 minutes.

The Angolan team played more than half the match with one player less, after Joaquim Adão was sent off in the 34th minute.

With this score, Horoya is in first place in group C, with three points, followed by Petro de Luanda, Kaiser Chiefs (South Africa) and Wydad (Morocco), all without any points.

Wydad of Casablanca and Kaiser Chiefs, who had to face each other today, did not play, as the South Africans could not get permission to enter Moroccan soil.

In the next round, scheduled for 23 February, Angola's current league leaders Petro de Luanda will host Wydad of Casablanca, while Horoya travel to South Africa where they will face Kaiser Chiefs.
