Luanda – Petro de Luanda defeated Santa Rita de Cássia do Uíge, 2-0, in a match for the 2nd round of the top division National Football Championship "Girabola2023/24", played this Saturday, at the Coqueiros stadium, in Luanda.
The goals of the match were scored by Gilberto (4') and an OG by Dalima (12').
With a record of ten victories over today's opponent, in an equal number of games between them, Petro de Luanda soon took control of the match, with strikers Gilberto and Jaredi causing discomfort to the opposing defensive sector.
Thus, Gilberto, with a header, ended up opening the score after 4 minutes, following a free kick taken by Eddie Afonso.
At that time, the Uíge team found themselves without “counterarguments”, showing a very permissive defence.
The national champions extended the lead to 2-0, benefiting from an own goal by Dalima (12`), who, in an attempt to clear the ball, after a free kick taken by Jaredi, ended up deflecting it into the back of his own goal.
In the second half of the game, the contenders made changes to the teams, resulting in a slight rise for the Uíge representative. There was also greater ball control on the part of the hosts.
With this result, Petro have four points, while Santa Rita have no points.
For the coming (third) round, Petro de Luanda will visit São Salvador do Kongo, on the 12th of this month, at the Álvaro Buta field, at 3pm, in the province of Zaire, while Santa Rita host on the same day Desportivo da Lunda Sul, at Campo 4 de Janeiro, at 3pm.
