Luanda - The president of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), Artur Almeida, confirmed the existence of debts relating to prizes for the National Team (Palancas Negras) until reaching the quarter-finals of CAN`2023, played in Côte d`Ivoire.

The official, at the end of his term, recently addressed the financial issue of the body he leads, in an interview with SuperSport, ensuring that the outstanding amounts will be honored within the established deadline.

"The debt that exists is related to the prizes until we reach the quarter-finals, but they will be paid in due time", he reiterated.

According to the source, the daily wages have already been paid, adding that the statements that the coach (Pedro Gonçalves) had been without wages for six months were nothing more than false information.

For Artur de Almeida, these are deliberate situations, aiming to create a bad environment within the work group.

After the first round of AFCON'2023, in which Angola drew 1-1 with Algeria in Bouaké, the federative leader told the press that preparations for the event had been made with borrowed money.

He added that until that time, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MINJUD) had provided only a fifth of the amount needed.

Subsequently, the supervisory ministry explained, in a statement, that it was not quite like that and that all expected values were made available in good time.

For Angola to participate in the continental event, the Angolan State, according to MINJUD, made available 1,407,516,708,84 (one thousand million, four hundred and seven million, five hundred and sixteen thousand, seven hundred and eight kwanzas, and eighty-four cents) for AFCON'2023 journey, but played in 2024, by CAF's decision.
