Women’s national handball team end preparation in Portugal

Luanda - The National Female Handball Team ended the pre-competition preparation in Portugal with two wins and three defeats, ahead of their participation in the African Nations Cup, set to happen from 8 to 18 June in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

 

For 12 days, the national team, led by head-coach Filipe Cruz, played friendly games  with men's teams with wins  over 1º de Maio (30-23), Seismarias (33-29) and were defeated twice by Dom Fuas team (28-30 ) and (26-28). 

 

According to a source from the Angolan Handball Federation, the national team left Portugal at 5 am this Saturday for Yaoundé, stage of the event, where on the 9th they will have their debut game, namely with Cape Verde (group C), at 4 pm. 

 

The defending champions close the group stage on June 13 before Congo Brazzaville national team, at 6 pm, after the withdrawal of their Algerian counterpart.

Group A is comprised by Senegal, Tunisia, Guinea and Madagascar, while group B is comprised by Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Nigeria and Kenya.
