Luanda – National senior women's handball team arrived in the country Tuesday from Dakar (Senegal), where they won the 15th African title on Saturday after beating Cameroon 29-19 in the final.

At Luanda’s “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport, the African champions were received by minister of Youth and Sports Palmira Barbosa, Federative leaders, former practitioners and the general population.

The delegation includes the president of the Angolan Handball Federation José do Amaral “Maninho” and Nair Almeida (vice-president and head of delegation).

National Team comprises athletes Teresa Almeida, Helena de Sousa, Marta Alberto, Liliane Mário, Estefânia Venâncio, Liliana Venâncio, Helena Paulo, Isabel Guialo and Marília Quizelete.

Also inlcude Dolores Rosário, Natália Fonseca, Natália dos Santos, Marcela Tati, Wuta Dombaxe, Juliana Machado, Suzete Matias Stélvia Pascoal and Magda Cazanga.

In the initial phase, Angola defeated Algeria (29-17), Cabo Verde (38-15) and ended with DRC (35-22).

In the quarter-finals, Angola beat Tunisia (29-24) and in the semi-finals, after extra time, they crossed out Senegal 24-21.

Helena Paula was elected MVP of the event and a member of the ideal seven, which also, from Angola, includes Liliana Venâncio, Natália Bernardo and Juliana Machado.
