Luanda - Sporting de Portugal became champions of the Portuguese Football League after beating Boavista 1-0 on Tuesday with still two matches for the end of the championship.

The sole goal of the match was scored by Paulinho at minute 36 after finishing a cross from Nuno Santos.

The match had the presence in the field of two Angolans for Boavista, namely Show, former Angola’s 1º de Agosto player and Angel Gomes, who has played over the years in Europe.

The last title of the Sporting of Lisbon was achieved in the 2001-2002 season.

The team led by Ruben Amorim has an eight-point lead (82 points) over second-placed FC Porto (74). Boavista is 16th at the bottom with 30 points.

This adds to the second title conquered by Sporting this year after winning the League Cup in January.
