Angolan coaches attend IHF training

Cairo - Angolan coaches Filipe Cruz and William de Almeida are since Monday attending a multiplier skills training course for trainers run by the International Handball Federation (IHF), promoted by the African Handball Confederation (CAHB) taking place in Cairo, Egypt.

Running until October 2 at the Cairo Handball Academy, the event aims to train trainers for the IHF D and C licenses, which qualify them as CAHB lecturers, being attended by professionals from Libya, Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Guinea, Nigeria, Senegal, Uganda, Gabon, Tunisia and Angola.

The training includes theoretical sessions, in which participants will look at the updated structure of the IHF Coaching Education Regulations, the profile and general objectives of IHF Multiplier Education on the continents, and the experience of training coaches in Africa.

It includes new solutions and ideas for the education of the future, development projects and tools for coaches in Africa, aspects to be taught in six specific topics, namely demonstration, explanation, organization, correction, motivation and evaluation.

They will also address the importance of the different age groups in children's and youth handball, and "How to teach in D- and C-License courses, connection with the situation in Africa. In the theoretical session, trainees will learn Handball Teaching Methodologies - Child and Youth Training - long-term concept.

The approach to the special profile for children's handball coaches, multiplier observation criteria, observation to evaluate coaches' behavior during practice and training sessions are also scheduled.

Practical lessons with U9 and U11 (girls and boys), organization into groups with 4 coaches, D-/C-License-Content Theory, defending the main topic, and latest trends in cutting-edge youth handball - analysis of details (video).

The topic of "defense" in Africa - observations, deficits, tactical aspects and Methodological consequences for youth training (basic and advanced), and coach education are on the agenda along with many other topics.
