Agriculture expects to receive more than Kz 148.3 billion from the State Budget/2024

Luanda - The Angolan Agricultural and Livestock Production Promotion Programme expects to benefit from a budget allocation of 148 billion, 327 million, 740 thousand and 143 kwanzas, which represents 0.60% of the proposal of the General State Budget (GSB/2024), which foresees revenues and expenses estimated at Kz 24.7 billion.

In comparative terms, the budget for the respective Agricultural Program estimates an increase of 94.1 billion kwanzas, compared to the current GSB/2023, which expected to allocate a total of Kz 54.1 billion to this sector.

According to the 2024 State Budget proposal, already at National Assembly for its discussion and consequent approval, of the total amount foreseen for the agricultural sector, 79 billion, 189 million, 671 thousand and 747 kwanzas (0.32%) will be allocated to an average annual area of 1.86 hectares per family.

The budget also foresees allocating Kz 7.7 billion (0.03%) to five units of the Agrarian Development Station (EDA), 1.9 billion (0.01) for 4,465 tons of seeds distributed, 757 million 951 thousand for four units of irrigated perimeters, as well as nine million 946 thousand and 166 kwanzas for the production of seven million 591 thousand and 439 tons of cereals (corn,  maze and rice).

Also part of the budget allocation is the production of 12,360 tons of coffee, valued at 10 billion, 10 million, 641 thousand and 483 kwanzas (0.04%), while Kz 400 million will be for agri-food quality laboratories and 11 billion, 527 million, 701 thousand and 416 (0.05%) for agronomic research infrastructures.

As for livestock, the State Budget plans to provide more than 15 billion for the production of 440 thousand 261 tons of meat, as well as more than 16 billion kwanzas for the vaccination of thousands of animals, in addition to allocating more than five billion to the Bioveterinary Center and Vaccine Factory of Huambo.

Forests

For the forestry sector, it is planned to allocate 12 billion 449 million 395 thousand and 705 kwanzas (0.05%) to promote the exploitation and sustainable management of forest resources, of which 1.8 billion will be for the planting of 96 hectares.

Of this package, 10.2 billion will go to the Forest Warehouses and Forestry and Beekeeping Development Stations, while 350 million and 100 thousand will go to the production of 84 tons of honey. QCB/AC/DOJ
