Luanda – The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, this Wednesday invited entrepreneurs from Turkey to invest in Angola, in the sectors of mining, agriculture and textile industry, due to their experience in these areas.

Speaking at the opening of the Angola-Turkey Business Forum, taking place in Ankara, the Angolan Head of State highlighted the technological, business and technical capacity of the Turkish people, so he is confidently awaiting investments from that Euroasian country to Angola soon.

“Allow me to thank the authorities of the Republic of Turkey, particularly the Turkish Council on Economic Relations Abroad, for organizing this important event, even at a time of restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

João Lourenço also praised the Eurasian country's potential in the assembly of cars, production of tractors, fabrics, food, fertilizers, electronic products and household appliances, clothing and footwear, as well as in the pharmaceutical industry.

He also said that Angola recognizes and is interested in Turkey's experience in agriculture, as well as in new investments in the mining sector, where there are many metals to be explored, with emphasis on iron, gold and copper.

Angola and Turkey bilateral relations, which date back to 1980, were reinforced last Tuesday (27), with the signing of ten cooperation agreements, in the areas of trade, economy, mineral resources and transport, among others.

President João Lourenço has been in Turkey since Monday, on a state visit which ends today. He already held work meetings with his counterpart, Recep Erdogan, with whom he presided over the ceremony for signing ten agreements with a view to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
