Angola at Mining Indaba conference in South Africa

Luanda - Angola is due to take part as from 9 to 12 May in the Mining Indaba conference in Cape Town, South Africa, with a representation of nine companies from the diamond sub-sector. 

The Angolan delegation to the biggest African investment event in the mining sector will be headed by the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo. 

Mining Indaba is an international mining conference, held annually in South Africa (there was a hiatus in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19), aimed at attracting investment to the minerals sector African countries. 

In the last edition, in 2019, the meeting brought together some six thousand delegates from all corners of the world. 

The administrator of ENDIAMA E.P for the portfolio of Geology and Mining Development, Ana Feijó, said today that Angola intends to show, at the event, a new legal and business environment in the country and seek to capture investments for the sector of solid mineral resources. 

She said that the country will be presented at the fair with nine companies from the diamond sub-sector, with the purpose of identifying and establishing partnerships in the field of services and attracting investments for the Chitonga (Huambo) and Mucuamba (Lunda-Sul) mining projects. 

She highlighted that Angola will present, on its exhibition day (9), the panel "Angola: the destination of choice for mining investment", business opportunities and the country's geological potentialities. 

Angola has adopted for the event, the motto "The potential of the Angolan diamond", a model of joint participation that includes the public companies ENDIAMA and SODIAM, the mining companies of Catoca, Cuango, Chitotolo, Uari, Yetwene and Furi, as well as Kapu Gems, dedicated to cutting diamonds. 

The conference will be attended by the Presidents of the Republics of South Africa, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe, Cyril Ramaphosa, Mokgweetsi Masisi, Hakainde Hichilema and Emmerson Mnangagwa, respectively.
