Viana - An inspection campaign for hotel establishments in the province of Luanda, with the aim of assessing technical and hygiene conditions, is being carried out by brigade members from the National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Safety (ANIESA), in partnership with the Investigation Service Criminal (SIC).

According to the ANIESA's deputy-general director, Heleno Antunes, who spoke to Angop this Friday, the campaign that has been running since the 28th of February will cover hotels, risortes, lodges, tourist villages, restaurants, bars and similar to verify the degree of adequacy, in regarding to registered infractions, after being inspected in the last three months.

The official added that, in the 1st phase, hotels are being inspected where in two days they have already detected violations such as the presence of dead rats in cupboards, expired products, poorly used utensils, lack of hygiene in mattresses and sheets and failure to disinfect the bedrooms.

He highlighted that the campaign, which runs until next April, will also serve to revisit the establishments seen in December to assess the degree of compliance with the guidelines left, which could culminate in the revocation of the license, if the operators do not comply with the guidelines stipulated by law.

Heleno Antunes highlighted that, at a time when the country is working to promote tourism, it is necessary for hotel agents to comply with legal requirements and offer quality services in all details.

He stated that the action will ensure that activities in these locations are carried out in accordance with established rules, safeguarding food and environmental risks that may result from contamination of the products offered, due to lack of observance of the applicable conservation rules.

ANIESA warns economic operators across the country to comply with the rules that govern the sector's activities and encourages complaints from customers.
