Saurimo - Seventy-seven million nine hundred and four thousand Kwanzas is the amount made available by the World Bank to Angola’s eastern province of Lunda-Sul for the purchase of raw materials for the production of soap and cleaning kits in schools.

The donation is part of the "Learning for All Program" (PAT), which aims to improve conditions in primary and secondary schools in the face of the pandemic.

 

Speaking to ANGOP, the chief for the financial area of the provincial office of Education, Aguinaldo Moisés, said that the amounts received in 2020 were divided into two modules, with Akz 561 million for the production of soap and Akz 22 million for acquisition cleaning kits.

 

He explained that the seven tonnes of material purchased include brooms, buckets with taps and 500-liter water tanks, bleach, soap, visors, alcohol gel and sprayers.

 

He stressed that the material will be reinforced into schools in the four municipalities (Dala, Muconda, Cacolo and Saurimo) in order to protect children, at a time when classes are expected to resume on the 10th of this month.

 

In the current academic year, 237, 787 students are enrolled in the different teaching sub-systems, provided by 4 483 teachers, with an offer of one 1,706 classrooms, of which 421 are provisional.
