Luanda – The National Reserve Bank of Angola (BNA) is currently working with public and private institutions to overcome existing constraints towards the granting of housing credits by commercial banks, the BNA Executive Committee adviser, Marília Poças, said Monday.

The BNA adviser, who made statement at the opening of a roundtable on "Facilitators for the process of registration and cadastre of land and new services for municipalities - opportunities and challenges," said the engagement for the resolution of the population's problem is part of the housing promotion set out in the Constitution.

Poças said the facilitation arises from the fact that the bank has presented legal and administrative constraints hindering a greater dynamization of Housing Credit under the BNA notice.

The bank official explained that all institutions, public and private, should make a significant effort to facilitate families to have access to housing credit.

"Banks cannot neglect the rules on credit management, risk and guarantees associated with the product and we are seeking to be a bridge between the various stakeholders", Poças said.

In the meantime, the BFA Corporate Credit Risk director, Katiavala Silva, who was coy on the number of credit requests received and granted, said her banking institution is being swift to serve clients and that it has continuous monitored the process  that allows them to assess their database to learn the number of requests submitted and approved or not.

Silva explained that the granting of housing credit has become very slow, due to the fact that most of the properties do not have full official documentation, which makes it impossible to set up a mortgage.
