Cabinda - The construction of the electricity transmission line from the INGA Dam, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), to the city of Cabinda (Angola) begins in 2022 and ends in 2024.

The information was released Wednesday, by the CEO of the National Electricity Transport Network (RNT), Rui Gurgel, on the sidelines of a visit to this northern province of Angola.

The official, who did not advance the project costs, assured that everything is ready for the launch, this year (2021), of the public tender for the choice of the contractor who will install the infrastructure, within two years, on the Matadi/Boma and  Muanda Village  (DRC) to the province of Cabinda.

"The intention is to take advantage, on the basis of the geographical discontinuity of the province, of the project approved by the organization of electricity companies in the Central Africa region, aiming at the interconnection of energy from INGA, passing through Cabinda, up to Ponta Negra, where RNT intends to acquire 100 to 200 megawatts, sufficient in the first phase", Rui Gurgel explained.

The intention is to connect INGA / Cabinda / Ponta-Negra, through a "regional circuit" that will also create an energy market in Central Africa.

"It is up to the national ENDE and RNT companies to carry out the internal works of the energy transport lines for the municipalities in the interior", clarified the source.
