Economic and Social Council reviews internal functioning

Luanda - The Economic and Social Council is examining domestic issues at its first meeting on Wednesday.

According to the body's spokesman, Ramiro Barreira, the agenda includes discussion and approval of the rules of procedure, election of the coordinator and assistant general coordinators and presentation of the body's secretariat.

According to Ramiro Barreira, with the approval of the regulation the body will be able to begin to give its subsidies to the President of the Republic, within the framework of the objectives that guided the creation of the body.

Created by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, it is a tribune of auscultation and interaction that will allow the holder of the Executive Power to receive contributions from the business community, the cooperatives, the academic scientific community, the associations that deal with the socio-economic development of women and young people in aspects of programming and execution of national development tasks.

The Council is composed of forty-five members, chosen from recognised experts in the fields of economic and social sciences, as well as entrepreneurs and managers who will serve for a two-year term.
