Luanda - The Angolan Government on Tuesday in the Province of Luanda launched the "Diversifica Mais" project with the aim of increasing private investment and the resilient growth of micro, small and medium-sized companies in the non-oil value chain.

According to the director of the project, Laércio Cândido, this action will be developed, particularly in the Lobito corridor, by improving the regulatory and institutional environment for trade, business creation and growth, as well as financial services, especially for companies owned or managed by women, adding that it will also serve to drive up public and private investment, as well as productive infrastructure and better company capacity.

Regarding the ways to make the project into action, stands out the implementation of the National Development Plan 2023-2027, having a direct impact on the two main pillars, namely food security and human capital.

Support for production, export diversification and import substitution, improving the business environment, environmental sustainability, increasing tax revenue, gender equality, increasing employment for young people and attracting foreign direct investment are all part of the project.

The project will also support private investment, trade and financing, with a focus on the Lobito corridor provinces, including investments in productive infrastructure and improvements in government services to companies, contributing to the development of value chains and the creation of regional markets.

The creation of conditions for a favourable business environment to trade and investments, as well as promoting economic change, are the principles that guide the project.

With regard to the expected results of Diversifica Mais, Laércion Cândido emphasised that it is hoped to reduce the poverty rate in rural areas, stimulate cross-border trade to reach regional markets, recover the economy and provide access to employment, especially for women and young people.
