Malanje governor challenges potato factory to increase production

Malanje- The governor of Luanda province, Marcos Nhunga, challenged today, Wednesday, fries factory in Cacuso municipality to increase its capacity and become a national production anchor company.

According to the Governor, the fact that the unit begins within days, packing beans, cassava and other products in addition to reindeer and sweet chips, puts it in a privileged position of the market, so everything has to reach this level.

Speaking of the commemorative 4th anniversary of that factory, now marked, Marcos Nhunga has expressed government satisfaction for having a manufacturing unit that is contributing to Malanje's economic and social development, through the purchase of Cacuso peasants’ production, transformation products and generation of jobs.

On the other hand, the Governor reiterated that Malanje has sufficient arable land and human capacity to produce a large-scale potatoes, beans and other cultures, so the factory directed to take advantage of these potentials and embarrass the expansion of their line of action.

However, he also defended the need for everything to do to achieve the installed capacity of transformation, so that he can improve his income and contribute significantly to the growth of the business sector in the country, and the province is considered the largest producer of corn and perhaps of other cereals, especially rice.

In turn, the director of that factory unit, Jorge Ibanez said that in addition to potato fries, the same account for two years with a dry product line, whose production has acceptance and is a hallmark in the domestic and international market, once which already exports to some countries.

He said it was claim to double the production capacity, and must work in two shifts, from 31 to 62 tons of potato/day, with a view to meeting the current market demand.

With this production, the unit will be able to pack daily up to 500 boxes of chips against the current 250.

Currently the factory produces 12 flavors of chips, with highlights for spices, cheese and banana, having as main destination the province of Luanda, the largest domestic market, from which it is channeled to the outside of the country.

The factory has 54 workers, mostly Angolans resident in the municipality of Cacuso. NC/DOJ
