Camabatela - The governor of northern Cuanza Norte João Diogo Gaspar on Thursday called for more private investment in the Camabatela Plateau to capitalize the region's economic and agricultural potential.

Cuanza Norte, the governor said, has the potential for business to invest seriously and promote employability for technicians trained at the Agricultural Polytechnic Institute.

Speaking at the end of a fact-finding visit to a private cattle, goats and crops cultivation project, the governor said the project is economically and socially important and could serve as a model for other municipalities in the province and the country.

João Gaspar added that the project is expected to provide professional training, underlining that projects of this kind contribute to the creation of more jobs and opportunities for Angolan society and the growth and development of the province.

The governor said that the Angolan and the local government will continue to support entrepreneurs and young people with initiatives in the farming sector with credits, taxes and technical support.

The Camabatela Plateau, which includes the Cuanza Norte, Malanje and Uíge provinces, is a region historically rich in cattle breeding, the reason why the Angolan government says it is committed to promoting its reactivation.

It is an area of 12,000 square kilometers, with favorable conditions for the development of agriculture, farming and small ruminant breeding. EFM/IMA/AC/TED
