Luau - A team from the Provincial Government is identifying a viable area for the implementation of the National Promotion Plan for Grain Production (Planoagrão) in the border municipality of Luau, eastern Moxico Province.

The multisectoral technical team inspected the dimensions, location, quality of the land, accesses and climate of several areas.

The Government of Angola has launched the Wheat, Rice, Soybean and Corn Development Plan, called Planoagrão, which expects to produce, from 2027, 6 million tonnes of these cereals per year, against the current figure of around 3.14 million tons of grain.

The plan will initially be developed in the provinces of Moxico, Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul and Cuando Cubango, in an area of two million hectares.

Planoagrão involves promoting large-scale production of wheat, rice, soy and corn, improving soil productivity and profitability, increasing agricultural entrepreneurs and employment, promoting the value chain and guaranteeing a fixed income to the producers.
