Lisbon - The Geological Institute of Angola (IGEO) and the National Laboratory of Energy and Geology I.P (LNEG) of Portugal signed this Tuesday, in Lisbon, a memorandum aimed at promoting bilateral cooperation between both institutions in the field of geosciences.

For Angola the document was signed by the IGEO's Chairman of the Board of Directors, Canga Xiaquivuila, while on the Portuguese side the signature was from the LNEG's president, Teresa Ponce de Leão.

The memorandum aims to establish cooperation bases within the scope of collaboration and exchange in the technical-scientific areas of geosciences, such as the exchange of scientific information, carrying out scientific and technical missions, collaboration in geological research activities and scientific research.

It also foresees joint organization of symposiums, conferences, workshops and seminars in both territories, consultancy and technical assistance to IGEO in matters linked to geosciences and management of lab infrastructures, publication and scientific edition of joint works, whether nationally or international.

IGEO is a technical service supervised by the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Petroleum and has its headquarters in the city of Kilamba, in Angola's capital.
