Malanje- Angolan National Quality Control Institute (INACOQ) said it was urgent to standardise the Angolan quality system to avoid the application of standards from other countries.

The call was launched by its general director, José Sofia, while speaking to ANGOP on the sidelines of the 2nd Consultative Council of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce on Friday.

José Sofia said that the quality of products in the food sector is crucial for the country's sovereignty, stating that the policies for coordinating standards should be adjusted.

Since its implementation, a year ago, INACOQ has been helping companies in adapting their quality processes to national standards to ensure safe products, he said.

In the first year of activity, he added, INACOQ raised AKz 180 million (one dollar worth 421AKz) in quality control and certification actions, quality audits, technical compliance and labs assistance.

Currently, the institute assists 100 companies and analyses 600 samples.

The National Institute for Quality Control (INACOQ) was created by Presidential Decree N°177/21, of 16 July.

It is tasked with controlling and certifying the quality of products and processes in the food and beverage segment in the country.
