Mbanza Kongo – Over 100 young entrepreneurs in Mbanza Kongo, capital city of the northern Zaire Province, started Monday a training programme on subjects related to the creation and management of small businesses and entrepreneurship.

The training session takes place in the framework of the agreement signed between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Central Bank of Angola (BNA).

With a duration of five days, the training will be guided by the local department of the National Institute to Support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (INAPEM) in partnership with the Angolan Youth Institute (IAJ).

According to INAPEM´s head of department, Maria Wazika, the capacity building action involves individual entrepreneurs and those associated with cooperatives.

“Entrepreneurship is the path through which the economic and social development of a country is promoted, because it allows opportunities to be identified and transformed into profitable businesses”, said the official.

The representative of the Angolan Youth Institute (IAJ), Octávio Gaspar Manuel requested the participants to take advantage of the subjects taught and to invest in the promotion of self-employment as an alternative to the civil service.

He explained that the Ministry of Youth and Sports, through the Angolan Youth Institute and the Ministry of Economy, develops actions across the country to empower young people.

Meanwhile, representatives of agricultural and farming cooperatives, young artists associations, amongst entrepreneurs from other productive branches, are taking part in the training session programme.
