Over USD 200 million spent on NovagroLider’s agriculture projects

Caxito – At least USD 221 million was earmarked for four agricultural farms of NovagroLider in the country over the last seven years, said Thursday the Administrator José Macedo.

José Macedo confirmed this to the press during the visit of the President João Lourenço to NovagroLider farm, in northern Bengo province.

 

He said the amount was spent on agricultural, livestock and fish farming, located in Bom Jesus with 200 hectares, Caxito ( 500 ha), Quibala (8,500) and Porto Amboím (10,000).

 

In 2017, he said, the investments exceeded the USD 50 million, representing an increase of 600 per cent compared to those made in 2013.

 

“There was a slowdown in annual value in 2018-2020 period, as the development of the investment projects of the previous years are still underway”, explained the administrator.

 

In 2020, the farm reported a production of 60,000 tons of fodder, 101,000 of vegetables and 104 of fruits, in a cultivation area of ​​11,000 hectares.

 

He put the export volume in 2020 at 7,300 tons of various products, with highlight to banana, mango, papaya, pineapple, lemon, passion fruit, melon and cantaloupe, reaching a turnover of more than one billion kwanzas.

 

The farm created 5,102 jobs in 2013-2020, of which 2,777 for men and 2,325 for women, mostly nationals.

 

The NovagroLider Farm is part of the GrupoLider, an Angolan company operating in various sectors of the economy.
