Luanda – Angola’s Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, on Thursday said the country aims to build a productive, dynamic, diversified and inclusive economy.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop on social responsibility actions and projects in the mineral resources, oil and gas sector, the minister said the aim is to pay particular attention to and mobilize other sectors of the economy to boost growth and meet the main needs of the population.

The minister said the food production chain and the raw materials are the country’s top priority to boost the still emerging industrialization.

José de Lima Massano pointed out that the country has favorable conditions, such as arable land, climate, abundant water, available labor, as well as an agricultural tradition.

According to the minister, by directly boosting the agricultural sector and its value chain, the country can guarantee food security, create jobs and increase family income, have raw materials to boost the manufacturing industry, reduce dependence on external factors and export more products to generate foreign currency.

He pointed out that in the 2024 State Budget there has been an increase of over 80 percent in the amount allocated to the agricultural sector compared to 2023, while financial support is being put into operation for producers.

These include the system of public guarantees, the financing of community banks that work with cooperatives and agricultural field credit.HM/AC/AMP
