Luanda - The World Bank (WB) presents itself as a partner that stands out in supporting Angola's efforts in various areas of social life, to reduce poverty and promote economic growth, the Judge President of the Court of Auditors, Sebastião Gunza said Wednesday in Luanda.
Speaking at the workshop on Projects financed by the WB, he highlighted that the banking institution has been working together with public entities and civil society, in order to promote economic growth.
He added, on the other hand, that the need for healthy public finances, combined with the obligation to face social concerns, integration and social justice, social protection of vulnerable groups and reduce regional asymmetries, among others, require detailed scrutiny from the competent authorities, aiming to promote good governance of public finances.
He added that the aforementioned workshop sought to prioritize the values of good management, integrity, economy, transparency and responsibility.
According to the Judge Advisor President of the Court of Auditors, the State assumes an unavoidable role in public governance, as it is responsible, on the one hand, for defining political options and approving legal norms and, on the other, for an active role in allocation of resources, in the sense of the various subsystems.
The meeting analyzed important topics for the Court of Auditors, focused on the portfolio of projects financed by the WB, focusing, in particular, on the situation of financing agreements and commercial contracts, as well as the validation, monitoring and evaluation carried out by the aforementioned court.
The World Bank has 3.6 billion dollars available to finance a portfolio of 17 projects with social and economic impact already underway in the country.
Projects are being implemented in the education, energy, agriculture, social protection, budget support, health and water sectors.
