Luanda - The First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, appealed Thursday, in Luanda, to national companies to focus more on good practices and the best models of organization and management, with a view to accelerating growth and the country's socioeconomic development.

When speaking at the award ceremony for the 10th edition of the Sirius Awards, the First Lady considered good practices as the foundation of any economy, with the performance of organizations that contribute to the country's advancement.

She said that similar events constitute a powerful incentive for other companies and managers to understand the context and the real challenges of Angola and the world.

For the president of the Sirius Awards jury, the holding of this competition represents the recognition and resilience of companies that operate fully and contribute to boosting the national economy, through the creation of jobs and generation of wealth.

She recalled that the objective is to highlight a group of companies and personalities that contribute exceptionally to boosting the Angolan economic market, making it more efficient, robust and socially responsible.

Regarding the evaluation criteria for the Sirius Awards, she highlighted the best practices and international standards, where human capital is recognized, as the main factors that count in the selection of winners.

For this reason, she said, this edition focused on sustainability, improving results and contributing to improving common well-being.

Among the winners of the 10th edition of the Sirius Awards, which was witnessed by the Angola Head of State, João Lourenço, the highlight was the business group Carrinho, which won two of the seven categories of the competition.

These are the Social Responsibility and Manager of the Year awards, for 2023, awarded to the president of the Executive Board of Carrinho, David Maciel.

In addition to these categories, the Financial Sector Company of the Year category, Non-Financial Sector Company of the Year, Digital and Technological Development Program, Entrepreneurship and Human Capital Development category were also included.

The prizes in the respective categories were awarded to Banco de Investimento Angolano (BAI) bank, Sonangol, Angola Central Bank (BNA), NARISREC and Grupo Casais.

In addition to these seven categories, the organization of the event (Deloitte) and the jury awarded the Special Prize to the education sector, whose recipient was the Angolan teacher and researcher Teresa Manguanga Victor.

The winner has been a scientific researcher for over 20 years, mainly in the environmental field, with works published and recognized around the world.

Additionally, the event organizers also awarded honorable mentions to all participants, in a gesture of recognition of the commitment and contribution of each competitor.

Under the motto “Distinguish excellence, promote the future”, the first edition of the Sirius Awards took place in 2011, having observed an interregnum caused, in part, by the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as a moment of reflection.
