Luanda - Production of associated gas reached 85.3 million cubic feet (MMSCF) in June, an increase of 1.2% compared to May.

Production in June was 84.307 MMSCF, corresponding to a daily average of 2.719 MMSCFD.

The figures are contained in the Monthly Oil Bulletin published by the national consultancy firm PetroAngola, which provides data on oil, gas and renewable energy, to which ANGOP had access.

Of the total volume of gas produced, 42% was injected, 7% made available for power generation at oil facilities, 18% exported to the ALNG (liquefied natural gas) plant, 4% for flaring and the remaining 29% was used in gas lift operations.

Angola is second largest producer

The quota of associated gas is around 77.9 million cubic metres per day in the oil processing units, a production that keeps Angola as the second biggest producer of natural gas in sub-Saharan Africa, after Nigeria.

According to a publication by the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG), that gas associated to oil is used 95% in re-injection operations.

The remainder, according to the publication, which does not give figures, is processed and used to produce liquid natural gas, liquid petroleum gas and fuel for electricity.
