Saurimo – The government of the eastern Lunda Sul province set the rehabilitation of the road connecting Saurimo (capital city) to the commune of Sombo as one of the top priorities for 2023.

This was said Wednesday by the provincial governor Daniel Neto during the year-end greetings ceremony, who added that the rehabilitation work will also cover other roads of the region.

 

In addition to Saurimo/Sambo section, he also mentioned roads such as  Cazage/Nhambaca, construction of metallic bridges, facelift for the municipal headquarters of Cacolo, Dala, Muconda and Saurimo.

 

Daniel Neto said with the support of the Ministry of Construction, the government will built sections linking Biula/Cazage/Muconda, Muriege, Chiluange, Cassai Sul, Cacolo, Cucumbi, Xassengue, Alto Chicapa, Luma Cassai and Dala.

 

The project also covers the completion of works on the National Roads 180 and 230 and the bridge over the Muanguês river.
 

He also announced plans for self-directed construction to accommodate technicians in all municipal and communal headquarters.
 

The priority for 2023 includes improving the current open dumping site in Saurimo and building solid waste treatment centers in all
municipal headquarters in the coming years.

 

Also he announced the construction of a fence for Deolinda Rodrigues Airport and the replacement of the navigation system, and  following up, with the Ministry of Transport, the progress of the construction project of the railway to connect the coastal province of Benguela.
